JOB TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION CLERK
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: Assist the educational diagnostician and speech/language pathologist with the management of special education records. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of an educational diagnostician or speech/language pathologist.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to use the computer proficiently for word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
Ability to work well with children with disabilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Experience:
Experience working with children/students, parents, or persons with disabilities
Experience in a clerical position
MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Maintain confidentiality
2. Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
3. Assist diagnostician and/or SLP in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required
4. Perform other duties that enhance the safety, security, and instructional needs of the campus as requested
5. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and legal/local board policies
6. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned
7. Work with special education staff to schedule ARD meetings
8. Mail information to parents in a timely manner
9. Distribute information to school staff
10. Maintain a roster of students who receive special education services
11. Enter and maintain information into the special education data management system as required
